Hello everyone and welcome to the online blog component for Photography I and II. This is a place where you may post your pictures and thoughts, provide feedback on your classmates' images and find reading materials and other handy links for the semester.

Please remember to be polite and use constructive criticism when you are talking about someone else's work. We are all here to learn from one another!

This class functions as a hybrid course.  We will meet on campus, as a group on Mondays from 1:10-2:25.  On Wednesdays you will post to the class blog: albertusphotography.blogspot.com.

Requirements for Introduction to Photography:
Introductory photo students will post a short analysis (200-300 words) of an individual photograph created during the week.  Please include an example of the photo in your post (smartphone photos of darkroom prints are acceptable as long as they are clear and adequately represent the quality of your print)When writing about your work please use the vocabulary outlined in "Reading" a Photograph. Consider what the most important elements of the photograph are to you. Is it the contrast? Patterns? Interesting lines or shapes? Perhaps there is a specific emotion the image evokes in you. Do you think it is possible for the viewer to feel the same emotion when viewing your photograph?  Feel free to include references or examples of other photographers images (links to many photographers can be found in the side bar to the right). If you are at a loss for what to write sometimes it is helpful to look at photographers who work in similar styles and compare what resonates with you in their images to your own. You may also choose to provide examples of music, writing, movies or other genres of art that influence your photography. Blog posts should be submitted between Wednesday and Friday each week.

Requirements for Photography II and Advanced Students:
Photography II students will post weekly on the progress of their individual projects.  Please include in your posts one photograph you made during the week you feel is successful (smartphone photos of darkroom prints are acceptable as long as they are clear and adequately represent the quality of your print). With your posted photograph write a little bit about why the photograph is a success and why it fits in with the theme of your project.  You may also include in your weekly writing new places you have discovered to photograph, photographers who’s work you find inspiring or other research you have done that influences your work.  Feel free to include music, movies, poems and books that inspire you. Blog posts should be submitted between Wednesday and Friday each week.

Weekly blog posts are mandatory and will be factored into your final grade for the class. Blog participation is worth 30% of your grade. It is also required that you work in the lab on Wednesdays, you will be required to sign in at the start of each Wednesday's printing session.
