I developed this photo with a not-so-good roll of film, so despite the issues I faced with this film, I am very happy with how this print came out. I wanted to give the photo a tilted appearance to essentially add a little more the piece since it is only of one tree (therefore some may believe it to be "boring"). My absolute favorite part of this photograph is the sun that beams through the tree. It casts a large shadow of the tree onto the grass beneath it which also adds some dimension.
In all of my pieces, I have attempted to give them a lost kind of feeling. By that I mean that I have tried to achieve a plain background. If I personally am viewing a piece with multiple objects, buildings, etc. in the background, I get a feeling that I am in a populated area and clearly not alone. When I leave the background as bare as possible, that allows the viewer to explore and make up where they think or feel the photo is taken. I like to let my viewers' imaginations rome when they view my art. For example, I have taken all of my photos at Albertus Magnus College, but you would never know just by looking at them.
I like the white that shows through each of the tree's leaves and branches. I also really enjoy the fact that you can tell that the tree is on a slight hill. For me, it makes the photo appear a little less flat and plain. I really enjoy this print.
