W/E 11/3/16

This past week I printed this photo. I chose this photo to post for several reasons. One reason being that I simply like the actual image itself, and second because of the technical flaws, and advantages I went through while trying to get it just right. When I first started to test on it, I was having a real problem distinguishing the true whites in the flower. They were turning to soft greys, and lacked details, and texture. At this point, I went back, checked my filter, and made sure that the photo was one hundred percent focused, and the grain was vivid. When going back, I realized that in fact it was slightly out of focus, and I needed to swap filters to a 3 1/2. These changes altered the photo dramatically, and on the first test after these changes I saw a significant difference. The blacks had more depth, and the whites popped much more than before. Once I found the right amount of time that complemented the leaves of the flower (showing texture and detail), I realized I had to burn much of the surrounding areas. I did so the make the focal point of the photo (the flower) that much more powerful. All in all, I am very happy with the way this turned out, and actually learned alot of things I did not know in the process of this particular photo.
