Third Blog

I chose this image because I love the shadows and different lines in it. As with many of my prints, it took me a few times to get it right. I had to burn the left side of the picture a bit because of the way the sun created a glare. Ultimately, I actually kind of like the glare that it gives in the top left corner because it shows how strong the sun was beaming through the glass. I also added a few more seconds under the lamp to make the photo darker and intensify the shadows. I like the intensity of the shadows across the brick siding. I think all of the different lines and the different intensity of shadows really draws your attention. I also love the overall balance of this picture. Although there is more light than dark, the intense shadows really balance everything out. Taking these high contrast photos in black and white has definitely given me a different appreciation for photography. I also feel that since we are using black and white film it sometimes creates more emotional photos.
